
Marukome Brand Film
A brand film for a long-established Japanese company, where a humble bowl of miso soup becomes a lens to view the cosmos. Using macro photography and fluid dynamics, patterns like Rayleigh–Bénard convection connect everyday rituals to phenomena on the Sun’s surface. Tradition, fermentation, and the poetry of physics converge in a single sip.

Originally created as the launch video for DJ Marukome—a promotional campaign that was kind of like starting their own music label with some trendy musicians (such as tofubeats) and a miso-loving mascot. Honestly, I never fully vibed with it, so I ended up making my own cut with Boards of Canada as temp music. The original is probably still out there somewhere.:
